Variants

Bofors 315

The Bofors SAK-40/L70-315 is the most basic gun mount. This is operated by local control only. This mount is the simplest in the line-up and has the lowest weight. This mount was intended for patrol boats and auxiliaries. The Bofors 315 is not connected to the ship for external power. This makes it simpler to install, but reduces traverse and elevation speed significantly.

Bofors 350

The Bofors SAK-40/L70-350 was the standard single gun mount for use as secondary armament. This is the remote servo variant of the L70-315 mount. While still manually loaded, this gun mount is to be controlled by an external optronic director or fire control radar. Back-up local controls remain available. A hard plastic cupola is optional.

Breda Type 520 / Bofors 520

The Bofors SAK-40/L70-520 is the L70-350 fitted with the Breda Automatic Feed Device (AFD). A hard plastic cupola was optional. Marketed by Bofors as the Bofros 520. The AFD was also offered as retrofit option for the Bofors 350, adding the suffix Bofors 350AFD.

Breda Type 564

Updated Breda Type 520 that replaces the hydraulic servo system with a new digital electric servo system with microprocessor. Also offered with options for more modern local fire control, including a laser range finder. Optional hard plastic cupola. Externally difficult to distinguish from the Breda Type 520.
